Au revoir, Martinique. Hello, St Lucia

SV Miles had a great sail from Martinique to St Lucia. We saw twenty dolphins, four brown booby birds fishing for over an hour, and caught ten pounds of Sargasso weed on our fishing lure. No fish, though...
Now we are enjoying Marigot Bay. Although the climb to the grocery store is about 300 feet gain in only a half-mile.

The road was a bit intimidating. When we got to the top, a lady in a food truck asked if we needed something cool to drink. Cindy thought she was a good salesperson. I thought she might call an ambulance.⛰️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️🥾



We had sailed the Caribbean some years ago on two of the Windjammer Barefoot fleet. Windjammer went out of business in 2007. Another business, Island Windjammers, connected to the fiercely loyal Windjammer fans. 
Sagitta, waiting on a refit, is one of their tall-mast ships. ⛵⛵⛵



Spectacular sunsets are included in the mooring fee. The nearby beach is where they filmed the 1960s movie Dr Dolittle. Now we get to watch the Doolittle ferry take people to the Doolittle restaurant all day. 🚤

 We made it from St Bart's to Antigua! We anchored by the light of the waning gibbous moon at 02:00. Steep seas and close-hauled winds made for a bit of a slog, but we were not in a hurry. We watched brown booby birds fish alongside us for miles. I think we were stirring up the flying fish for them. We ended up with ten fish on the deck, but none on a fishing pole.

Over the Rode My wife, Cindy, and I are over-the-road truck drivers. We drive team. Team driving means that one of us is always driving and one of us is a lways sleeping. Over the last thirty years of criss-crossing the United States and Canada, we have accumulated a huge number of "remember when" moments. As in, "remember when we went hiking on Snoqualmie for the first time?" Or, "remember when it took five hours to cross the George Washington Bridge because of construction?" Or, "remember when the blizzard closed I-80 in Wyoming on Christmas?" As we drive now, every mile of interstate brings up memories from the hundreds of other times we have been there. We often feel sorry for the people who vacation around the United States and Canada who fly from city to city. They don't get to experience the country mile by mile like we get to. Snorkeling in St Bart's

We only stayed on St Bart's a few days, and spent much of the time working on the boat. We made it a point to enjoy the island, though. We enjoyed the history and tidy streets of Gustavia, then went to Colombier for a nicer anchorage. We returned to Gustavia for Bastille Day fireworks. A short, but fun trip.
